Estée Lauder:
ONE IN EIGHT – ART RAISES AWARENESS OF BREAST CANCER
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. Behind this statistic lie individuals, families and deeply personal experiences.
This is precisely where ‘One in Eight’ comes in: in partnership with Fotografiska, the international museum of photography, art and culture, the Estée Lauder Companies’ breast cancer campaign brings together art, education and social dialogue.
As part of the international open call, photographers from all over the world shared their perspectives on breast cancer. From 1,134 submissions, a final selection of ten works emerged following several rounds of curatorial selection. The selection was decided by an international curatorial jury comprising representatives from Fotografiska, representatives of the non-profit partner organisations and Kerstin Weng, Editor-in-Chief of VOGUE Germany. The works showcase the complexity of the disease – ranging from vulnerability and loss to closeness, strength and hope.
As the exclusive art fair partner of the breast cancer campaign, ARTMUC is presenting the ten works in a dedicated exhibition area. Under the guiding principle ‘Stronger together against breast cancer’, the collaboration brings together art, visibility and social engagement.
In 1992, Evelyn H. Lauder launched the breast cancer campaign and co-founded the iconic pink ribbon. To date, the Estée Lauder Companies and their charitable foundation have provided more than 156 million US dollars worldwide for research, awareness and medical care. In 2026, the campaign will continue to support charitable partner organisations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden.
All ten designs are also available as fundraising posters via a QR code in the Fotografiska online shop. The net proceeds will go to the participating local partner organisations and support their work for people with breast cancer.
